The long Thanksgiving weekend seems to be the hardest holiday weekend to recover from. Even if you stayed in town over Thanksgiving and went to sleep at 9pm every night, the next full week seems like a marathon compared to the turkey trot pace of the week before. But now it’s the end of the week, and you need a wine that’s down for just about anything. An early happy hour, late night pizza or couch surfing at 7 pm in your sweatpants, this wine needs to be ready for anything and everything. Today, Fadeaway 2014 Monterey Pinot Noir is up for the challenge.

The standouts for this wine are the aromas and bright acidity. Notes of concentrated black cherry and strawberry give way to a much leaner tart cherry on the palate with refreshing acidity.

The name Fadeaway is appropriate for how quickly this bottle is starting to disappear..

The medium finish is satisfying because you won’t need deep contemplation to know this wine is tasty, it just is. This bone dry beauty has a touch of earth, which makes it perfect pairing for that last microwave macaroni and cheese cup in your pantry or the sophisticated lamb take out dish that’s about to arrive at your door. I guess by now you can tell which of the three scenarios I participated in this evening.

The week after Thanksgiving is usually a light one in terms of wallet weight, so opt for this bargain bottle available at Trader Joe’s for $7.99. Enjoy!
